This is a chance to serve your community, connect with your neighbors, and be part of a tradition that's been going strong for 37 years.
General Information

Why volunteer?
Every year, dozens of volunteers help bring Madison's Juneteenth Celebration to life — from setting up the first tent to sweeping the last walkway. It's a chance to provide your community with an experience that will carry forward and enjoy themselves as we all celebrate this wonderful holiday!
How much does it cost?
It's free!

Volunteers receive a t-shirt and the gratitude of everyone who walks through the festivities!
Is it hard?
Not at all! You don't have to commit to the full day, just sign up for the shift that works for you!

Morning Shift / Setup & Parade | 8:30am - 12pm
Help build the site and support the parade. Best for early risers who want to see the celebration come together!

Midday Shift / Celebration | 11:30am - 3:00pm
The heart of the event. Staff booths, support activities, and keep things running smoothly while the community celebrates.

Afternoon Shift / Closing & Teardown | 2:30pm - 6:00pm
Help wind the day down, assist with cleanup, and make sure the park is left the way we found it.
Volunteer Opportunities

Setup & Teardown
Help us build the celebration from the ground up. Arrive early to set up tents, tables, chairs, signage, and staging and then return at the end to break it all down and leave the park clean. This is our most critical need.
Parking & Traffic
Direct vehicles, assist with accessibility parking, and help manage any road closures around the parade route. A friendly face goes a long way when someone's circling for a spot!
Information Booth & General Support
Be the first point of contact for attendees. Answer questions, hand out programs, and point people toward food, restrooms, first aid, and activities.
Stage & Entertainment Support
Assist performers with load-in, help manage the area near the stage, and keep the entertainment schedule on track.
Safety & First Aid
Serve as eyes and ears across the event. Know where the first aid supplies are, assist with minor incidents, and be ready to contact emergency services if needed.
Floaters
No fixed assignment, just a willingness to go wherever you're needed. These are our most flexible volunteers and often the most valuable!
